Meet the Tilden Lake Volunteer Firefighters

The roles and responsibilities of a firefighter with the Tilden Lake Fire Department are to protect the inhabitants of Tilden Lake from fire-related risks. Our firefighters are trained to handle various situations, from preventing the adverse effects of fire loss to caring for the injured and responding to highway emergencies.

We are also dedicated to fire prevention, working to educate the public on safety measures that can help prevent fires and protect families and homes.  We regularly post Fire Prevention initiatives on our Tilden Lake Face Book page.  

We encourage and welcome community members to join our volunteer team and contribute to the safety of our area. Volunteers are an essential part of our department, and we encourage residents, including youth members aged 16 and 17 (for practices only), to get involved.

New recruits are placed on probation for one year, during which they must demonstrate:

• Willingness to use a breathing apparatus
• Ability to work effectively as part of the team
• A strong interest in learning and developing new skills

All firefighters are required to attend training sessions regularly and must be willing to upgrade their driver's license to a Class “D” for operating department vehicles.

• A willingness to commit to a long-term relationship with the fire department.
• Determination to attend training twice a month and adhere to departmental procedures and policies.

• A strong desire to attend all emergency calls and stay on scene until relieved by an officer.
• A determination to conduct yourself professionally and promote safety within the department.
